Prediction 4th Quarter of the 2008 Steeler Season
Pittsburgh Steelers plow thru their last 4 games with a 3-1 record, moving them to another great year. 10 – 6 being their final mark, & winners of their division the AFC North.
Week 14, Cowboys @ Steelers
Playing probably the most talented roster of players in the NFL (maybe Chargers beat them slightly), this will be a tough one for the Steelers to win. My heart says they do, but the realist in me – says the Cowboys are going to win (they might be super bowl bound). Offensive side of ball had 7 Pro Bowlers last year: QB Tony Romo, WR Terrell Owens, RB Marion Barber, TE Jason Witten & 3 OL Flozell Adams, Leonard Davis, Andre Gurode. Defensive had 3 Pro Bowlers, LB DeMarcus Ware, CB Terence Newman, FS Ken Hamlin. I see this as a possible match up of Superbowl teams. Round 1 (the battle) goes to Dallas, but if they meet in the Super Bowl (the war) – Steelers will win that one. Steelers are now 7-6.
Week 15, Steelers @ Ravens
This should be an easy win for the Men of Steel, a leaderless group on offense the Ravens are. By this time, their Rookie QB Joe Flacco should be playing (getting ready for next year as their potential starter) – an audition you might say. Their Defense is getting older & without many points from their offense to help them, they should be tired as they’ll be on the field often this year. Steelers rout them, as they’ll need to run the table to make the playoffs. Steelers now 8-6.
Week 16, Steelers @ Titans:
Steelers keep their playoff run alive, as they face a 2 man team. QB Vince Young who is superb at times, but very very inconsistent & a decent running game with LenDale White – not much else on offense for the Steelers Defense to worry about. I see the Steelers crushing this team on their way to a 9-6 record.
Week 17, Browns @ Patriots:
Assuming Brownies QB Derek Anderson is healthy (concussion in a pre-season game which led to him not playing a pre-season game) this will be a very competitive game & possibly a game where winner wins the AFC north. Another slugfest like that of the earlier game this year in Cleveland, but similar result – the Steelers know how to win & will score on this Brownie Defense at will. Steelers end their regular season 10-6 good enough to win their AFC division again.
Similar to the year the won it, they won’t be the most heralded team in the AFC – most likely that’ll be the Patriots, Colts, Chargers & Jags. But like their 5th title year – make it to the playoffs & get on a good run & you never know (same thing happened last year with the Champs, NY Giants).
